Sapinero is an unincorporated community now located on the shore of Blue Mesa Reservoir in the Curecanti National Recreation Area in Gunnison County, Colorado, United States. The U.S. Post Office at Gunnison (ZIP Code 81247) now serves Sapinero postal addresses.[2]

Geography

Sapinero is located at (38.459638,-107.303295). It was re-established in this location after its original site was abandoned in about 1963, prior to being inundated by the rising water of Blue Mesa Reservoir. The original town was on the north bank of the Gunnison River, just downstream from the mouth of Soap Creek, at approximately (38.47042, -107.30600). This was about one mile north of its current location.
